    T,

To get the trace length select the show element icon (circle with the "i" in it), set the find filter to Clines and select the trace.  Draw you first cline or line, then use the copy command.

     hi ken13,

sorry cause i an quite new to cadence, i have tried your advice but not very sure how it work, because now my project need a requirement is that the VCC1 and VCC2 point have to be in total same distance/length from a point to point.

so i not sure how to measure and draw the trace which both trace have to be in same distance/length. the trace not necessary have to be the same but the length/distance have to be the exactly same.

    please advice me. many thanks.

     HI TNEHCHUAN,

WHEN YOU WANT TO MEASURE THE TRACE LENGTH FOR LENGTH MATCHING,U CAN USE TOOLS>QUICK REPORTS> ETCH LENGTH BY NET.THERE WILL BE A LIST OF LENGTH OF NETS.YOU WILL SEE THE MEASUREMENTS FOR THE NETS AND  YOU CAN FIND OUT REQUIRED NETS EASILY.

BUT THERE IS A WAY YOU CAN DRAW NETS ,HAVE THE SAME LENGTH, THAT HAS A STATUS BAR.IT SHOWS MATCHING BY GREEN AND RED COLORS.IF YOU DRAW LONGER ONE IT SHOWS RED AND ALSO THE DISTANCE.ACTUALLY YOU CAN USE THE TOOL BY GIVING AN INTERVAL.MAX LENGTH AND MIN LENGTH.FIRST YOU SHOULD DECIDE THE MAX AND MIN VALUES.ALL OF THESE ARE IN THECONSTRAINT MANAGER>ELECTRICAL(ON LEFT -WORKSHEET SELECTOR)>NET>ROUTING>TOTAL ETCH LENGTH.

     Hi Anaxroche,

     OK, i got your mean.

So for the same length traces, i have open my contraint manager>Electrical>Net>Routing, but there are no "Total Etch Length" in my contraint manager. Over there only have "differential Pair". Do you have any idea how to set up the Total Etch Length?

Sorry Tnehchuan, my mistake.  Even though the copy command works on the trace I don't know how to change the net name, yet.  In Layout I can just open the net spreadsheet and rename the net.  Have to figure out if it can be done in PCB Editor.
