Via connecting layers (version 16.3)

PCB Editor 16.3.

I have a 4-layer board.  Layer 1 and 4 are on the same net while layer 2 and 3 are on the same net.  I’m trying to make a via that connects layer 1 and layer 4, but PCB Editor always connects layer 2 and 3, even if I hide layer 2/3.

How do I fix this problem?

Thanks.

Tools>Padstack>Modify Design Padstack, select the via in the design, set the Options for "Instance", Edit to start the Pad Designer, set the Regular Pad for the layers that you do not want connected to Null, File>Update to Design, right-click>Done to complete. The net will clear the drill with the "Hole to <object>" spacing. You can select multiple vias for the Instance edit.

    Hi,

I tried this method, but it didn't work.

    Thanks.

I figured out the problem.  When I added a via to connect from one layer to another (both layers were created with dynamic shapes), the shape box was not checked in the options panel.  Therefore, when adding a via, PCB Editor does not know which net to connect to.
