Creating Design Entry Parts

Hi @all!

Last time i asked about a script for creating a large footprint (2992 pins) - and the excel sheet worked well. Ok, i had to re-write parts of it to fit it to my needs, but it was a nice thing to start with and it helped me a lot!

Now i have another problem: I do need that large part in a library for using it in design entry in a schematic. Ok, i imported all of the pins with the spreadsheet-import. That works but i do get one big block with all 2992 pins. Is there a way to create more "blocks" for one part? The function to create multiple parts per package won't work because the pins are not the same.

Example with 12 pins: I would want to create one part, painted by three blocks with different pin counts. Pins 1-6 are digital pins - i would want to create a block for those pins. And a seperate block for pins 7-10 (analoge pins), and a third one for 11 and 12 - the power pins. I hope you understand what i mean...

When i start creating a symbol there is a box on the screen (dotted line) with will be the outline of the new part. All of the pins i would add, would be somewhere on this box. But i can't create more than that one box...

    Hi Steve!

Thanks for the answer! I've been reading manuals but i did not know the keywords. I allready found out about the "split parts" but the "slots" were the missing link. So again you helped a lot!
