Cannot find export->subdrawing in OrCAD PCB Editor 16.6

Dear Cadence PCB Design Community,

I am trying to make a symbol out of the visible features on a complete board design (a plug-on daughter-board) so I can use it as a symbol in another board design.  I have been successful before but not now.  In earlier versions, I would edit the board, make the features I want visible and then export a subdrawing.  In 16.6, I am unable to find the menu selection that invokes this process.  As a workaround I did the following:

1. Edit the board as before, showing the features I want, such as connectors, mounting holes and certain component features.

2. Export as a DXF.

3. Import the DXF in a new symbol drawing and save as a mechanical symbol.

4. Export as a subdrawing in the symbol edit mode of Allegro.

I am confused.  The 16.6 menus in board mode seem to be different from the menus in symbol mode.  What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance,

Allan

I often ask a question and figure it out myself anyway. Exporting a subfile in older versions means exporting a "clipboard" file in newer versions. Both methods create a ".clp" file. This is a "gotcha" caused by unexpected changes to the user interface structure and terminology.
