Cadence Allegro 17.2 - Shape to board outline clearances.

Hello all,

I hope you can help, I have different requirements for clearances to the board edge which I want to enforce.

For example one net can have copper 2mm from the board edge whilst another has to be 4mm away.

How can I control this automatically in Allegro ?.

At the moment I have two draft lines which I follow manually, I'd like Allegro to do this... and DRC !.

Thanks for your time,
Chris

    Hello,

No replies at all !, I guess I must have really asked a stupid basic question.... I will have to hope I find the solution myself.

.... otherwise, it's not possible... or I wrote the question badly.

Not a stupid question. Chris I think you are asking is there a method to selectively "Based on net type" apply a rule to a shape so that each shape could have a different clearance from a board outline. or keepout etc, Is that correct ?

    Paul.

    Thanks Paul,

Basically yes..... I need for example NET 1 to respect a clearance of 1MM to the board each and NET 2 to respect 4MM to the board edge.

I was hoping to just throw a shape at the board and Allegro to apply automatically a clearance, I come from over 8 years with Altium..

IF IsBoard AND isLine AND isNET2 .... clearance =4mm (simplied example), with this Altium would backoff the board outline automatically.

In Cadence, I am basically adding a shape and manually making sure it is backed off by the 4MM.

Just wondering if Cadence can do something automatically... the more I write this, the more I am thinking it doesn't...

... but thanks for the reply Paul !,

    Chris
