this is after putting net alias.

You have multiple Nets of the same name, Capture doesn't recognise them as connected so you get an enforced suffix to make the Net name unique, and not connected. Once you correct the connectivity, so that Capture recognises them as connected, you will get a single Net name. You might want to use Edit>Browse>Nets to navigate to the Net names and investigate the connections.

    VCU118-3.pdf

there are 3 appearances total of COMBINED_PGOOD_LS. 1 in page 3, 2 in page 46, which i printed out as pdf from DxD.

my understanding is:  net alias alone can connect the 2 wires in page 46. but to connect the one in page 3 as well, one and

only one off page connector is required. it can be on either one place of the 2 wires. but they gave 2.

as to the connectivity of the off page connector symbol, i tested in a very tiny schematic, there is no problem whatsoever.

besides there are many of them in this vcu118 schematic, only this one stands out.

iorcad capture has a limitation, maybe a systemic one. when you select entire net on either one of the 2 wires in page 46,

the 2 wires will be highlighted altogether, but not the one in page 3, which belongs to this entire net too. if you select in page 3,

the page 46 ones won't get selected.

Edit>Browse>Nets gave Object ID COMBINED_PGOOD_LS with 2 different Net Names, COMBINED_PGOOD_LS in Page 3.

while COMBINED_PGOOD_LS_116304 in page 46. who is enforcing this? i replaced these off page connector with the one

from capsym.olb, they are ok now. seems like i have to replace them all.

another observation is: the same .eds file, import Design from orcad, they differ all the time. why is that?

Assigning Net name alias by (accidentally) Mixing global signal identifiers (such as VCC Arrow), off-page connectors and in-page nets (alias on nets inside pages) is one common cause for Capture to add  "_nnnnn"  to the alias...

i found out, oldmouldy is correct. the cause is:

there is a net in page 3, but no offpage connector. orcad try to distinguish these 2 with the one in page 3. so it is adding this suffix.
