Exporting 3d step file from database crashes program

When I try to export out the .stp file from pcb layout the system will eventually crash due to the size of the database.

Is there anything I can do. This .stp file is what we  give to our mechanical group to put into their model for checking mechanical interferences, etc.

Just adding to CADAce2K's comments. Turn off everything in the "visibility window" except "Dielectric" as well. The only time to render everything, is when someone needs a pretty picture of your design to paste into a presentation of sorts. In this case a screen capture would do.

Yes, I have tried whaty you suggest and still the file is large. Will need to reach out to Cadence again and see if they have a solution now. Thanks

Yes, file sizes are still too big in my onion as well. Smaller yes but still too big. If you are going to reach out to Cadence. Try to get them to build an output option that would distill down the design to a single model surface. A feature that is in Solid Works I believe. Rather than a bunch of separate parts which drives the ME's crazy. A single model would be much smaller in size. Good luck!
