Description and Manufacturer not getting populated in BOM

Hi,

I have this issue when I generate the BOM. I've filled out all the properties for my parts in the part manager. I then go to Reports > CIS Bill of Materials > Standard and then generate the BOM.

On the BOM, all the fields are correct with what I put in part manager (Value, PCB footprint, etc.), except for Description and Manufacturer. Description and Manufacturer are left blank for every row. What could be causing this? I know for a fact that these properties are not blank in the design.

Thanks

Are those details been fed in your database under the description and manufacture column? Also, check if the details are also available when you select component and click edit properties. If so then there should not be an issue in getting those exported in BOM

The details are available when I select the components and click edit properties. I am not sure about the database part though. How do I check this?

Well, this is a little lengthy process but helps you find the location of database.

    1. In CIS - options - CIS configuration - setup - here you can find the name defined for the database.

    2. Later on your PC open control panel - Administrative tools - ODBC 64bit - Either under User DSN or System DSN find the name obtained from step 1 - select and click configure. here you can find the location of the database

    3. Open the database and check the attribute

Sorry for the delay. I checked the database and I can see the manufacturer and description columns filled in:

    Regards,

    I.K.

Hi Keezy. Can you upload your 'report' setting for the BOM? Or post the lines from the BOM tool where you output the data? Normally what happens is the definition in the line(s) don't match up with the property in the symbol. Or that the symbol doesn't even have the properties you're trying to output. - To find out if your symbols have the Description and Manufacturer property; go into a schematic page; set selection to 'Parts' only; select all the symbols and look at the properties. I'll guess they don't all have the properties you're looking for.
