BOM

archive
archive over 20 years ago

When I try to create a BOM from the schematic, I receive this error" Error 001- Illegal Operation"
then

"USAGE:.... [-nographic]... etc" and a bunch of other stuff. What do I have to do to this schematic to extract the BOM.
note: this schematic was given to me and I believe it contains all the necessary information in it.
Thanks

How to Create BOM from command line

    bomhdl -help

-proj # full path of current project (*.cmp)
-nographic # for no graphic mode
-T # for Bomlist Template file
    # default template file located @
    # /share/cdssetup/template.bom
    # (or) @ $CDS_SITE /cdssetup/template.bom
-f # type of output default is text (eg: -f HTML or -f SS)
-o # default out file path and default file name # proj_name/worklib/proj_dsn/bom/BOM.rpt

    @ command line
    eg:
    bomhdl -proj c:\proj_name\proj_name.cpm -nographic -T /share/cdssetup/template.bom -f HTML -o c:\proj_name\

I've been attempting to create a BOM from a command line, using the same command and options.

The error I'm consistently getting is "bomhdl failed to create the design view of coolgrip, check for existance of packaged directory"

There is a packaged directory, and the output there appears to be correct.

A solution was posted in a different forum for concept hdl, involving a HAS_FIXED_SIZE variable.  However, that did not work for me.  Perhaps because I'm using system architect and not concept hdl.

One more note:  this project was copied from another project (which can run bomhdl)

    Thanks!

May be running Export Physical on the new (copied) design before issuing bom command will do the trick if not done so already.

Export physical was done.  And again today, after blowing away the copied packaged directory, so a brand new one could be generated.

Still no luck.  Thanks for the tip, though.

Have you tried running BOMHDL from the Project Manager (not from the command line)?

Let's see if we can first get BOM to generate a report successfully, then we can investigate the command line options.
