Hi all,

How to create a intelligent searchable pdf in concept HDL and ALLEGRO 15.2?

I haven't seen an answer on this topic yet. I can answer only for Allegro.
In Plot Setup, click the 'Windows' tab, and check the 'Non-vectorized text' box. Select a font available in your system (we use 'Courier New').
That should make pdf text selectable.

    Best of luck,

    Andrew Noonan

In Concept go to plot setup. Select any non-vectorized text ( not default ).

This will make the schematic searchable in Acrobat.

    Good luck as well,

I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish here, but it sounds like you want cross probing ability in the PDF of the schematic. The Cadence tools with in them self fully support this functionality with both Concept and Orcad schematics to allegro databse. If looking to find a low cost way to browse both the schematic and the board, in which you use PDF filies,
the PDF search capability will support this, but there are better ways. One solution is BoardPlanner from Cadplex.

I just saw a demo of this.

It supports intelligent Cross-Probing between the schematic and the board. You can trace a net thru the entire board or track a net

thru all the sheets of the schematic.

On the DxDesigner (Viewdraw) side of the world there is a program called DxPDF which generates in intelligent searchable pdf file from a DxDesigner schematic. The net names and off sheet buses are hyperlinked so it jumps you around the page as well as off the page to trace a connection.

The new Publish PDF functionality from ConceptHDL generates intelligent searchable pdf files and structures the PDF file with layers so items like net name, ref des, values, etc. can be display or not display but I do not believe it has anything hyperlinked so it jumps you around connections. Don't get me wrong, the Publish PDF functionality is a welcome addition to ConceptHDL and provides everything you could possible every want but it will never replace the actually schematic.

    Hope this helps,
