Yes it is possible. YOu have to draw the shape as a static crosshatched on the external layers.

    Bill,

I can get the hatch in externally and assign a net to it. How do I get it to display properly? ie, how do you get the thermals to the pads and the clearance around unconnected pads to show? Thanks

Firstly the best way is to add the shape as dynamic copper. Doing it this way will void the external shape as you work according to the parameters that you have set for the shape.

Alternatively, if you are wishing to stay with the static shape then you need to.....

Select the shape and check that the parameters are what you want i.e. voids, clearances and thermals.

Select the shape then shape -> manual void -> element, check the find filter to ensure that the items you wish to void are selectable. Drag a box over the entire shape and you are done.

    Hi kp,

When we select Shape ---manual void ---Element and see the find filter for selection , nothing gets highlighted ....( By the way my Allegro version is Allegro 15.2 version ) . Is this available in higher versions.......
