Changing trace name in PSpice Probe Window

DesignTech

At times, the trace/probe name could be a complex formula or a long net name. For example, in the following image, the formula is S(W(R1))/(time-0.9ms) and this becomes the probe name.

To replace probe names, you need to use the following syntax while defining the trace in the Modify Trace window.

<probe name>;<desired name>

For example, if the probe name is "S(W(R1))/(time-0.9ms)" and you would like to label it as "AVG_POWER", use the following syntax under formula definition:

S(W(R1))/(time-0.9ms);AVG_POWER

You should define the above value in the Trace Expression field in Trace > Add Trace.

The resultant plot no more contains the long formula; instead, it shows the user-defined label, AVG_POWER.

Let us know if you find it useful.
