S parameters in low frequency

Hello,

I simulate the S-parameters of a small PCB (20 x 20 cm), with several ports, using PowerSI Model Extraction.

I'm surprised to notice that in low frequency (f < 1Hz) some S parameters can have a phase different from 0°.

for me, at low frequency, all couplings are dominated by the resistive effect in the dielectric material,

and as the wavelength is huge at f < 1Hz, compare to my board size, I should see all the waves at any port of my PCB with no phase shift.

do I need to use some specific options in PowerSI to get an accurate result at low frequencies ?

I tried to use the PowerDC option with "passivity and causality enforcement" checked.

the results are a bit better as the phases curves are converging on the first simulation point (f ~ 0.01 Hz) to a phase of 0° or 180°... but not all curves converge to 0° !

do I understand something wrong ?

thank you for your help

best regards

ronic

You can turn on the Enable Port Generation Analysis Flow option when Calculate DC point as reference is selected  I found this option is helpful specially when performing the PDN Analaysis, you can also try option Enable DC accuracy mode and see if it helps.
