Hi I am a student and new to orcad. I run into " The PSpice COM Wrapper error has occureed." everytime I try to open a .opj file. I had Orcad lite 16.5 installed on my pc in the morning, then installed 16.2 without uninstalling the first one. Then I uninstalled 16.5 lite verson followed by 16.2. Also i removed orcad entries from registry( don't know if i deleted all necessary, don't know much about it). And after reinstalling I still get the error. Any advice!

Are you getting this error on a specific project (.OPJ) or all? What version of Windows OS you are running? if you are running Windows Vista, please make sure that you have Vista SP1 installed.

I am running windows 7 (i keep it updated with windows update) on the pc which gives me aforementioned error. So I installed orcad 16.2 in window xp 64 bit PC, fresh install without any previous contamination of orcad versions,and when I open the .opj file , I get errors with netrev but it gives me netlist and opens up PCB editor and no PSpice Com wrapper error. I have been using the same .OPJ file throughout this test. So I am assuming that the mixed installation has done something to my registry.

For Windows 7, it recommended to use 16.5 release. Cadence does not support Windows XP 64 Bit Operating systems for OrCAD products, thus tool may behave unexpectedly on this OS. Try reinstalling 16.5 version after reboot and open a .opj from<installdir>/tools/pspice/Demo_samples/anasim/example/example.opj. It should come up without any error.
There should not be any problem with mixed installation, both of the installed releases should work independently.
Thank you for the reply. I have access only to orcad 16.2 from my university lab licence. Is there a solution to this problem ? Please advice further.
