The Year That Was: Cadence PCB Design Blogs in 2020

And what a year it has been! Like many of you, we've worked from home. We juggled house and office work, washed our hands innumerable times a day, rinsed every grape before putting it in the fridge, and scrambled to look presentable in conference calls. Through it all, your encouragement helped us to continue to plan and write blog posts in a range of areas related to PCB design.

Now that our BoardSurfers series is humming along, we started two subseries—Training Insights and Installation Know-How. The first introduces you to the wealth of videos and webinars available with Cadence Training Services. The latter provides tips and tricks for hassle-free installation of Cadence software. Who wouldn't want that? Towards the end of the year, we also started a new series called (P)SpiceItUp, which describes the benefits of integrating PSpice® A/D with the OrCAD® and Allegro® tools.

Based on your feedback, it appears that the following posts were the most popular, so here they are again, in an easy-to-read list:

  • Units, Accuracy, and Artwork - How to Do It Right!
  • Managing Materials Using A Single Material File for PCB, Package, and Simulation
  • Rev Up Your Designs Using Color Themes in Allegro 3D Canvas
  • Installation Know-How: Six Things You Need to Know Before Installing Cadence OrCAD and Allegro Products on Windows
  • Extending Allegro Layout Capabilities with SKILL
  • Allegro In-Design Impedance Analysis: Screen your Routed Design Quickly
  • Training Insights: How to Run a RAVEL Rule from the GUI
  • Training Insights - Fundamentals of PDN for Design and PCB Layout
  • Training Insights - Improving SI/PI Simulation of DDR Interfaces at the PCB/IC Package Level

Our Japanese readers might want to check BoardSurfers: Good News for Japanese Readers.

We hope that our PCB design posts helped you address your tasks faster and more easily as we continue to try to improve the range and quality of our posts. Watch this space for our next post in 2021 and as always, if you have any suggestions, do let us know.

As we sign off for 2020 and prepare to loll around watching Netflix during our break, we wish you a safe holiday season and a Happy New Year!
