Troubleshooting installation of free student license installation (with license text file)

Colinda
Colinda over 2 years ago

When requesting a free student license, a license text file is provided (or 2 in the case of Fine Marine).

  1. Go to the Admin Tool as installed together with the product of your choice (Omnis v5.2 or Fine Marine v10.2-2).
  2. In the License management section select Activate from license file(s).
  3. Select the license file(s) as received by email.
  4. Click on Activate.
  5. The License server tab in the same section should indicate that the server is up.
    • yes: the software should start. If that's still not the case, go to the Diagnostics section and check what else could be wrong.

If all this does not help, please make a new forum post with the description of what happens in your case in the above steps.

Mention also:

  • the OS version,
  • the software version,
  • The startup log when launching the software through command line:
    • Linux: omnis5.2 -print > startup_log.txt
    • Windows:  cd "c:\Program Files (x86)\NUMECA Software\Omnis 5.2"    and then:  omnis.bat -print > startup_log.txt
      Then share startup_log.txt

Screen captures may also help to illustrate the situation and get a fast response. Make sure not to show confidential information in the screen captures though.

    Dear Colinda,

I am facing some problems with activation. After registering for the CFD class, I got 2 mail from your team. One from you with "DOWNLOAD-AREA" and another one with the subject line "Your access to Cadence CFD software". In both mail, I didn't find the license file as you mention in the above process. after installing the software, I found, one license file in C:\ numeca_Software\ License_management-20221021-184733\ any. license

but when I selected this file in License management section and select Activate from license file(s) it failed.

Please help me. I was trying to activate the FINEmarine tool.

In the email with the subject line "Your access to Cadence CFD software" you are requested to send in reply the machine identification: the hostid and hostname. This information is given at the end of the installation process but it is also available in the Admin Tool on the Product (de)activation tab. Actually that info is in the window that is in your screenshot. Based on that information you will receive a license file.

I am not sure which request is yours but based on your alias I can guess and think that we have only received a request for Omnis, not for Fine Marine.
For the CFD class, Fine Marine is not needed. If you do wish to use Fine Marine in addition to your participation in the online CFD class, please make sure to clarify the purpose of use of Fine Marine in the project description field. As you have already submitted a request, please send an email to academic-cfd@cadence.com to confirm the scope of your license request.

Thank you for the details information. Actually, I already send mail on academic@numeca.de ID but I will send another mail in a new ID as you mention in the above mail. (Please, Don't consider the previous mail as didn't mention the reason for FINEmarine. )

    Thank you
