Configure IC6.1.3.502

I installed IC6.1.3502 version, but I still need to do the configure step.

Any one can tell me which packages to configure and how? Is there any tutorials to show that?

 Thanks,

     Hi,

If you select all the tools, InstallScape will create a shorter list of those that might need configuring; depending on what tools you have installed, it may be 3 or 4 tools that might need configuring.

Then it depends on what you are using and how you have things set up.  For example, if you are doing Mixed-Signal design, then you might want to configure AMS Designer and give the path to your IUS installation.  Also, you may want to configure licensing, e.g. to start the license daemons automatically after a reboot - it may not be necessary to run this step depending on how your licenses are set up (e.g. I use the CDS_LIC_FILE environment variable, so I don't worry about having a license file in the share/license directory). Finally, you may wish to configure OpenAccess; OA is installed as part of the installation process now (previously you had to configure to get OA installed), so it should be where it is expected to be - but you might be sharing an OA installation across different tool releases, so you might want to configure this manually.

I suggest you try it out and see what happens.

    Hopefully this helps a little.

    Regards,

    Lawrence.

    Lawrence,

This is the first time for me using Cadence. Where is the IUS located and what is it?

    Thanks,
    Lina

     Hi Lina,

The "IUS" I referred to is the Incisive Unified Simulator stream which encompasses unified (digital) simulation technologies - some of these simulators have kernels for simulating both the digital and analog portions of a circuit in one executable, i.e Mixed-Signal simulation. Just as you have downloaded and installed an IC release, so can you download and install an IUS release (e.g. IUS81 or IUS82) using InstallScape in the same way.

I hope that this answered your question.

     Regards,

    Lawrence.

     HI Lina,

Remember that you only need to do this if you need one of the digital simulators, e.g NC-Sim for simulating VHDL and/or Verilog. Likewise, for the analog simulation you would install MMSIM (MultiMode Simulators) for an analog simulator e.g. Ultrasim or Spectre.

Your original question was basically "what needs configuring" and the answer is that it depends to some extent on other tools that you might be using (such as MMSIM tools or IUS tools).

    Regards,

    Lawrence.

    Hi Lawerence,

Thanks you, for Now I need to be able to do schematic and layout design and simulate them using spectre. So I think I have to install MMSIM. Then go to the configuration step. After I installed IC613 I quited the configuration step. How can I return back to it??

    Thanks,

    Lina

    Hi Lina,

In the InstallScape window there is a section at the bottom, Utilities for Installed Products and under this in the bottom left corner is the item Configure - this allows you to go back and configure a previously installed release.

    Regards,
    Lawrence.
