Monte Carlo Analysis: Varying Spice Model Files

Hello All,

 I went through a related post on Monte Carlo analysis, but, I think I may have a different problem. This is the first time I am trying Monte Carlo, so maybe I could not understand the converstion too.

I am working on an old technology (0.6u) for a research project, but, I need to add "variations" into it to simulate the effects of process variations in current technologies.

Here is what I do:

Modify the BSIM3 ver 3.1 AMI06N.m file to simulate variations in effective length of the transistors:

where the changes made to the file are in bold face. 

I do not get any kind of netlisting error. I make sure that my model-files in the ADE points to this file (and the similar AMI06P.m file).

I was expecting that when I generate the netlist, I should see different lenghts of the transistors, due to mismatch variation. However, I sitll see that the lengths of all the transistors mentioned in the netlist are the same.

I have referred to the BSIM3v3 manual, and it tells me that the effective length of the device is a linear function of XL

Can someone please help me with what's wrong here?

    Use Tools->Monte Carlo from within ADE.  You probably want to read the manual too. Look at the Analog IC->Virtuoso Advanced Analysis Tools User Guide in cdsdoc, or open <ICinstDir>/doc/aatoolsuser/aatoolsuser.pdf (Statistical Analysis chapter).
