"virtuoso" error as a invalid command while opening work bench for IC610

Bhavsh
Bhavsh over 15 years ago

1st i installed BASE version of IC 610 and then went for UPDATE followed by HOTFIX.When i installed only a base release, work bench was opening by a command "virtuoso",but after  update and hotfixinstallation , after sourcing script file in terminals of REDHAT Linux, its showing that "virtuoso" is a invalid command. What would be the cause for that??. How can i solve it..??

I didnt get any error while configuring after update installation. But i got 2 errors while configuring after i installed HOTFIX ..errors are :

"....ic6/install/tmp/DFII/-ncvhdl164506.11-s017lnx86.exe not found"

"...ic6/install/tmp/oaRedist 22.04-p049lnx86.exe/share/oainstaller/oaconfig no such a file or directory "

is it any serious prob??

It sounds as if something has gone very wrong with the installation process. Check the log files - look in the <instdir>/iscape_logs dir, and look at the latest install_log and configure_log files.

Note that you never need to install Base, Update and Hotfix. Base and Hotfix is sufficient. In fact the best thing to do is to install the Hotfix - if you're installing from downloads directly with installscape, it will automatically fill in any missing pieces from the Base release as needed. Otherwise, if you've got the complete images downloaded, it will prompt you to point to the Base images once the Hotfix installation has got to the point where it needs any base files - which should be relatively few, in practice.

So I suggest you start again in a clean directory, installing the Hotfix, and following the prompts (if any) to point to the Base images when required.

Base releases are the first shipment of a major release of the software.

Update releases are an occasional, fully QA'd update to the software, which may incorporate fairly major changes.

Hotfix releases are a more frequent (in the case of IC releases, currently monthly) update which contain fixes since the last Base or Update release, usually fixes for serious (production-halting) problems found by customers in the usage of the tools.

Some customers only ever want to install Update releases - partly because we keep these available for the life of the release, wheras only the very latest Hotfix is available on the downloads site.

Both Update and Hotfix releases contain only the deltas since the Base release - which ends up being a lot of the release - often it's documentation and samples which don't change. Since the Hotfix contains all the changes since the Base, there's no need to install the Update as well.

    Hope that explains things!

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    hi,,

I tried to install as how u said but facing many problems. In a new directory 1st i started with hotfix release of IC610,in between it asked for BASE and ended up in errors at last..In IC 610 if am installing only BASE alone without HOTFIX then it is installing fine.Even i tried to install IUS82 where in IUS 82 ,both the HOTFIX and BASE installation is giving error..I also tried for  MMSIM71,its also resulting in same type of error (for both hotfix and base).

At 1 instant i thought that it might be due to error in download,so again downloaded the above 1's,but it doesnt make any difference, its giving the same error.

Here i attached the log files..

    How can i solve this??

Not sure from a quick glance why this is happening - I can see errors galore happening - it would take more time than I have available (especially on a weekend) to fully debug this.

I would suggest contact customer support, but you might want to try using InstallScape to directly install from the downloads server, rather than downloading CD images. In InstallScape you can do this directly, or you can change your preferences on downloads.cadence.com

    Andrew.

I realised that, so I was suggesting you try installing directly from the server rather than downloading images. Perhaps that will work?

From the document you attached, I see lots of:

*Error* eval: undefined function - layoutOptimize
*Error* eval: undefined function - layoutOptimize
*Error* eval: undefined function - layoutOptimize
*Error* eval: undefined function - layoutXL
*Error* eval: undefined function - layoutXL
*Error* eval: undefined function - layoutXL

type messages. It suggests that you are doing load("/some/path/.cdsenv") at some point in the .cdsinit. .cdsenv files are not SKILL, and hence cannot be loaded like this. Or you have a .cdsenv in place of a .cdsinit

    Regards,

    Andrew.
