Getting error in simulation

affaq
affaq over 15 years ago

I am working in virtuoso 5.1.41 and have got ADE (L) and spectre ver. 5.10.41. I am trying to simulate 90nm design and have connceted design corners correctly. When I tried to simulate a design I get an error saying "illegal library definition found in netlist" and the .scs file to which it is directing is my design corner file. Also in CIW shows the error after successfully running the simulator as "Failed to get the MPS handle". Can anybody guide me where to look g´for and how to solve it?

Any help is really appreciated.

 Thanks,

Affaq

I didn't reply to this previously because it was "locked", but I see you've now unlocked it.

The "illegal library definition found in netlist" is because the included file has a library definition, and you did not specify the section in the model libraries form.

The Failed to get MPS Handle is just a consequence of the simulator exiting because of this error.

In the model files, you'll see things like:

    library gpdk

    section NN
    include "mos25gen.scs" section=tt
    include "nmos1.scs" section=nom
    include "pmos1.scs" section=nom
    include "resistor.scs"  section=res
    include "capacitor.scs"  section=cap
    include "diode.scs"  section=dio
    include "bipolar.scs"  section=bjt
    include "rfmos.scs"  section=rf_mos
    include "xjvar_nf36.scs"
    include "xjvar_w40.scs"
    include "snacapacitor.scs"
    include "cmodel.scs"
    endsection NN
    ...

    endlibrary

The section names are typically "tolerance" groupings.

    Andrew.

     Hi,

Thanks for you answer, but I didn't really undrestand how to solve this issue.

My 90nm technology was working fine, but when i tred to run 130nm it got error and my 90nm doesn't also work.

It gives me the same error.

    Thanks,

    Morteza

     Morteza,

Appending a 2-year old thread with very little details in your append is not the best way of getting an answer to your question.

It's not clear what exact error you're getting. Much better if you explained that.

If it's the same issue as before - "illegal library definition", then in ADE it's probably  because you are using Setup->Model Libraries and referencing the model file, but not filling in the section name field for the file. If you look in the model file, you would see library and section definitions - in the example I gave, you'd have to specify the section field in the Model Libraries form as (say) "NN".

But I'm guessing. I didn't split this off as a new thread (which it should really be) because you might be referring to the original error in the thread, or you might not, or you might be referring to part of it.

The better your question, the better the answer.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

I never though I will get back an answer, even it is not a good excuse I really apologize.

Well I get few errors and I don't undrestand what are they?

1 - Forexample my 90nm technology works well on solaris , but when I run it on linux it doesn't work  which it gives me an error 'failed to get the MPS handle'

2- My 180nm technology works on linux and it stops when I run it on solaris !!!

3- My 65nm technology gets the error  'illegal library definition'.

    Any help will be appreciated,

    Thanks, Morteza

I fixed the error  'failed to get the MPS handle' by changing the wavescan to AWD. I found out that this is a JAVA problem, but the strrnge thing is  that it was working with Wavescan before, but not know. Very starneg!!!!

    Good Luck..
