Using spectre netlist as input to ASSURA

Hi,

this is a simple question, but it looks like I cannot find the answer to it... I have a layout view and a netlist in spectre format (no schematic, just a text file containing a netlist in spectre format). Is it possible to use ASSURA LVS to check the matching between the layout and the spectre netlist text file? or do I always need a schematic view?

Thanks and regards,

Pedro

Assura can use schematics, CDL netlists, or Verilog netlists (or a combination). It does not directly read spectre netlists.

If you're using IC613, you could use File->Import->SPICE to read in a spectre netlist and produce a schematic.

Otherwise a perl script or something similar to convert your spectre netlist into CDL (which is SPICE-like) would be a way to handle this.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Hi Andrew, thank you very much for your reply. I am using IC514, so I will have to find some workaround. Regards, Pedro

     Hi, yoyega

Unfortunately, we are using IC514 too, would you mind sharing your solution with us?

    Regards,

     Hi, Andrew

I am using IC514 , and I tried to include or import .cir or .spi netlist to cadence for Assura lvs check, but failed. would you mind giving more detail instruction for this?

    Regards,

    Julia

    Hi Julia

It seems that your issue is slightly different. You seem to be having a cdl import issue. Would you please start a new thread and provide more description on the problem? E.g. your device map file, output of "icfb -W", a small portion of your netlist with the different devices (mos, cap, res, etc), etc.

    Hi Pedro

There are actually quite a lot of discussion on spectre-to-spice conversion in other forums. I think ultimately the answer is to use a perl script to do it. Hope that this link might help you.

    Best regards

Hi Quek, thank you very much for the link. The truth is that I finally decided to enter a complete schematic for the LVS (sorry Julia, but as you see I cannot really help you on this)...a lot of work, but I didn't find any easier option at that moment. I will check out the link you sent me and see if I can find an easier way to do it.

    Thanks and regards,

    Pedro
