How to assign "(De)Select Under Cursor" to a bindkey

I need help please.

I am using Virtuoso Layout Editor Version IC6.1.3  When I click "right mouse button" while mouse is pointing to an object/s inside layout window then lxHiMousePopUp() will be executed and will show choices in a pop up window.

One of the choice that I use so much is "(De)Select Under Cursor".

How can I assign "(De)Select Under Cursor" only to a bindkey so that when I press the bindkey then I can have a choice to select or deselect any objects under cursor?

Thanks,

Slim_Ant

I believe the function to bind to is mouseSubSelectPt() ...

I assume you know how to set your own bindkey.

    Hi Slim_Ant,

That menu item is a dynamically built pop-up menu. As such, there's no function that would make any sense to call, because it needs to be a popup menu...

A better alternative is to use the Dynamic Selection Assistant. Go to Window->Assistants->Dynamic Selection, and then the usual bindkey (as in <instDir>/tools/dfII/samples/local/leBindKeys.il) is for ctrl-H to freeze the selection under the cursor. It lists all the shapes under the cursor, and if frozen, you can move the cursor over to the  dynamic selection assistant and select (or deselect) the appropriate shapes.

And you could then use F11 to toggle whether the assistant is shown or not.

So perhaps that's a better solution?

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Thank you for all of your reply.

     I used "Dynamic Selection" before.

In my personal opinion, The feature of "(De)Select Under Cursor" is much better because I can keep my previous selection and only deselect or add more into selection the one that you need.

    Thanks again,

    Steven

    Hi Steven,

If you hold the control key down when you click on the items in the Dynamic Selection assistant, it toggles the selection of that item, without disturbing any existing selections.

So you can easily add more into the selected set this way. You can also use the shift key to select a range of items in the list shown.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    I didn't know that.

With that new knowledge, I will give "Dynamic Selection" a try again.

    Thanks,

    Steven

Ctrl-Btn1 is where I got the  mouseSubSelectPt() from. If Ctrl-Btn1 works for you, you can definitely save a bindkey.

I believe mouseSubSelectPt() only deselect an item from your selected items.

What I would like to have is the flexibility of selecting/deselecting objects under cursor as something Andrew suggested.

This comes very handy when I need to de/select one out of many objects that are stacked one on top the others.

    Thanks,

    Steven
