Hello Cadence Community!
Our team is using IC6.1 for layout, so I have my first question in this forum.
In IC5.1 there was an option to display shape information in the corner of the screen.
Actually it got activated by going Options/Dispay and checking "Shape information"
checkbox. But somehow it disappeared in IC6.1.
Anybody knows if that option has been removed in 6.1 or moved to other place/menu?
This is a very useful thing so we would like to know usage in 6.1
Go to Options->Dynamic Display and turn on "Show Info Balloon". Then select "VLS" in the Object Display Setting tree in the Setup tab, and hit the "All" button. OK the form. Then you'll get a transparent info balloon over the object you hover over. The Info Balloon tab can control more about how it appears.
Essentially the Shape Information has been replaced with this more modern info balloon. In VLS XL, you can also customize what gets displayed with your own SKILL functions.
Thanks for prompt answer! Once more thing. If we have a stack of different shapes, let's say
M1-M5, and you would like to know what shape exactly selected by cursor, how can you do
it without checking property (clicking q) Is there any status bar, etc?
Well, the shape which is "highlighted" (i.e. the one which is about to be selected) is the one which is shown in the info balloon. It can show the layer name...
Alternatively you have (in VLS XL) Windows->Assistants->Dynamic Selection - this will list all the shapes and objects that you are over in the pane, and you can then freeze your selection (there's a bindkey for this - Ctrl-H in the "standard" leBindKeysil) and pick the shapes yourself. Or you can use Right Mouse->(De)select under cursor->list of shapes and pick whichever you want. Also now selection is cyclic - so if you keep clicking, it will cycle through all the objects under the cursor.
Does that help?
One bad thing about Dynamic selection window is that it consumes extra space in layout window :)
But it's more than nothing :)
Thanks a lot for the answers!
Once you've added the assistant, you can toggle all the assistants on or off by hitting the F11 key - so you can have it displayed when you want it, and get the space the rest of the time. Thought I'd mention it in case you weren't aware of that...
