How to import spice models libraries (*.lib and *.olb) in cadence/virtuoso/spectre ?

Hello, I would like to use the vendor spice model libraries (*.lib , *.olb or *.cir) in cadence. Is it possible to import these libraries in cadence and then open the schematics in virtuoso and simulate in spectre ?

Thank you in advance for your answers

Hello I am assuming that you are referring to the files created by OrCad Capture and Pspice. The extensions you mentioned are not files to be used if you want to bring in schematic from Capture to Virtuoso. It would be best to do a EDIF export from Capture of your schematic and then import it in Virtuoso. You might need to do some scripting to process the EDIF file before getting it into Virtuoso. regards, Ajish

There are numerous posts on this forum which describe how to reference an external SPICE netlist or model file from within ADE. Please use the Community Search capability to find these.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

I have already searched a lot and did not find anything. Would you please let me have one of those links?

    Best,

From a quick search I found this blog by Tawna which describes how to do this.

Thank you very much again. I have seen these posts, but I use with Cadence, and I did not know that ADE means the same Cadence. Best Hamid

Cadence is the company name, not the tool name. There is no tool called "Cadence".

I am of course assuming that you are in fact talking about the Virtuoso Analog Design Environment and not the Orcad Capture tool or Pspice - because those are completely different tools mainly focused on PCB rather than IC design, and hence generally covered over on the PCB design forum.

This is precisely why the forum guidelines ask you to state which tool you are using (and the version)

    Regards,
    Andrew
