Pin warnings in abstract generator

affaq
affaq over 15 years ago

 I have been continuously having following problems whenever I want to generate abstract of my cells.

Cell FA: Terminal CO has no pins on Metal1-metal2 routing grid.

Cell FA: Termnal CI has no accessinle pins on Metal1-Metal2 routing grid

Diagonal vias are NOT legal with this metal1 and metal2 pitch.

I have tried everything. Replaced pins, their positions but nothing happened. If someone can direct me through?

Regards,

Affaq

    Hi Affaq

    Since you are seeing the diagonal vias message, my guess is that you are using abstract generator from IC5141. Would you please post the actual version which you are using? It is also very important to post the message IDs so that we can assist you in finding out more about the problem.

    terminal>abstract -W

    For ABS-1075 (diagonal vias ...), it is because metal1 and metal2 pitch are too small.
    For ABS-1076 (... no pins on ... ), it might be because your pins are offgrid.
    For ABS-1077 (... no accessible pins ...), it might also be because your pins are offgrid and hence are not accessible.

    You can refer to more details on the messages and the solutions in /your-path-to-IC5141/doc/abstract/abstract.pdf.

    Best regards

     Thanks Quek for providing direction. I have imported designs from IC5141 to IC6.1.4 and using abstract generator from later version. I understand the problem statement but I dont know how to check in virtuoso layout editor where does this routing grid lies so that I can change the position of pins to solve this issue.

    Hi Affaq

    Since you have migrated the design to openAccess, let's keep the environment constant and debug using abstract generator 614. Would you please redo the steps and upload the following as file attachments (please do not cut and paste):

    a. abstract.log file
    b. abstract options file (File->Export->Options)

    Open up your layout and check pins CO and CI using their properties form (Select the pins and press "q"). What are their coordinates? Now enter the following in ciw:

    tf=techGetTechFile(geGetWindowCellView())
    techGetMfgGridResolution(tf)

    What value does it return?

    Best regards

     Hello Quek,

    You shall find asked files as an attachment. Regarding pin coordinates here is the winfo you asked for.

    CO:

    Left -0.71 Right -0.635 Bottom -1.29 Top -1.22

    CI

    Left -2.41 Right -2.35 Bottom -1.005 Top -0.955

    tf=techGetTechFile(geGetWindowCellView()) Returns

    db: 0xb2d8f592

    techGetMfgGridResolution(tf) Returns

    0.05

    Best Regards,

    Hi Affaq

    Thanks for the files. You are actually using abtract generator from IC613.500.1.This version is already very out-dated. If it is possible, please upgrade to IC614-502. Your pins are offgrid. The coordinates must be multiples of 0.05. E.g. You can make coordinates of pin CO as (-0.70 -0.6) and (-1.30 -1.20) to put it on grid. Please retry after correcting the coordinates of both pins.

    Best regards
    Quek
