multi metal layers and vias

Dear All,

I am using IC5.1.41 for schematic and Vituoss XL layout for the layout drawing. The design kit that I am using is Jazz CA 18. Currently, I need to creat an array of vias (saying 12 by 10) between metal 1 and metal 5. I tried to create the via one by one and it seemed so tedious. In addition, once I made a mistake in drawing a via, I cannot even highlight the specific via and delete it. I am wondering whether there is a better way to perform it. Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi Tester

    Please use the contact functions from the toolbox. I think you are looking for "Contact Array" function. It allow you to create via arrays for non-adjacent metal layers.

    Dear Quek,

    I tried the followings but could not find toolbox->contact functions:

    1. Virtuoso XL Layout Editing->tools

    2. Virtuoso XL Layout Editing->options->Turbo Toolbox

    Could you be more specific please? Thanks

    Hi tester

    In IC5141, toolbox is a standalone window with icons to select the functions. There are no menus. If you click on the hyperlink which I had provided in the previous reply, you will be able to get a full description of the contact array function. : )

    Here are the steps:
    a. In VXL, go to "Options->Toolbox"
    b. Enter the location of your rules file. If you do not have a rule file, please click on the "Rules file utility" to generate a rules file.
    c. Toolbox window appears
    d. Select contact array function from the window

    Best regards
