Meta key binding not working in Cadence 6.1.4

I have defined a key mapping in Unix for the metal key by running:

xmodmap -e "keycode 115 = Meta_L"

But, when I launch Cadence it still complains that:

*WARNING* Modifier Meta is unassigned, illegal or disabled.
*WARNING* Invalid bindkey key string: Meta<Key>a

I have tried binding the key to "Super" as well without any luck. Any ideas on how I can get this to work?

What do you get when you run this command?
_hiGetModifierList()
I saw this problem in the pre-release of 6.1.4, but the bug was fixed.
