ADE Calculator: how to reuse equation ?

 Hi,

 I want to write an equation  'X' in an other equation 'Y'.

Exemple, Actually  I must write entirely the equation like this:

X=VAR("vbat")/1000,

Y=5000*VAR("vbat")/1000

Now I want to simplify this equation :

X=VAR("vat")/1000 ,

Y=X*150

So can I  invoke a previous equation in other equation in the calculator?? Thanks.

    Hi boulot

    It is currently not possible to do so. This is possible in the coming IC615 release which allows users to re-use expressions in stored calculator memories. Currently it is possible to reuse the output of an ADE measurement in another measurement.

    Best regards
    Quek

    Actually you can workaround this though. All you need to do is ensure that your expressions in the calculator have an assignment in - so literally are:

    X=VAR("vbat")/1000

    (i.e. make sure the X= is in there). You also need to ensure the expression is evaluated - so hit the eval button.

    Having done that, you've created a SKILL variable X which can then be re-used in later expressions.

    However, in IC615, as Quek points out, there's a much cleaner way of doing this with the expression editor. That keeps track of dependencies and ensure that dependent expressions are evaluated, and avoids the need to put assignments in the expressions.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Everybody, Thanks for your answers. But I made a mistake in my  problem description. I want to do this to add equation in ADE. So Quek, you say that it's possible ??

    Thanks!

    Provided you're using IC614 this is possible directly - you can use the output names in other expressions in the ADE outputs and ADE takes care of ordering the evaluation correctly.

    In releases before IC614 you can use the approach I described - put the assignment in as part of the expression. You however are responsible for ensuring that every variable is defined before it is used (the outputs are evaluated top to bottom).

    Regards,

    Andrew
