Re: Escape and Delete keys not working

Hi,

I have a strange problem where the escape and delete keys do not work in schematic and layout. I am using IC6.1.3 on a 64bit linux platform, executed virtuoso with the -nocdsinit option, and loaded the default bindkey files (e.g., for schematic bindkeys - $CDS_HOME/tools/dfII/samples/local/schBindKeys.il).

I have also redefined the escape and delete kes to do other commands using the hiSetBindKey command but they still do not work. Is there some environment variables that I need to set to ensure these two keys work? Thanks!

Sincere

     I saw something similar to this years ago on HPUX.

    What does this command report (in a terminal window):

    xmodmap -pk | grep Esc

    Thanks,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

      I tried it on the machines, at work (Fedora 12) and at home (Fedora 11), and the results are as follow:
        Fedora 12 ->      9        0xff1b (Escape)    0x0000 (NoSymbol)    0xff1b (Escape)
        Fedora 11 ->      9        0xff1b (Escape)    0x0000 (NoSymbol)    0xff1b (Escape)    0x0000 (NoSymbol)    0xff1b (Escape)

      In regards to the problem of the keys not working, I found a solution whereby declaring environment variables XKEYSYMDB and XNLSPATH to $CDS_Work/share/cdsetup/tdmX11/XKeysymDB and $CDS_Work/share/cdsssetup/tdmX11/nls respectively would get virtuoso to recognize the keys. For some reasons, the tdmX11 directory does not exist for our local installation of IC610 and I just used the ones located in IC5141. Is this the solution that you would recommend?

    Almost certainly you should not have either of these environment variables set - better to "unsetenv" them in your environment - I suspect that will also fix the problem.

    Best Regards,

    Andrew.
