Fonts are not visiable in Virtuoso LSW & property editors

Hi Anna,

Do you have all of the fonts resident on your machine compared to your colleagues?  You might compare the output of "xlsfonts" from your machine and one of theirs?  Have you run checkSysConf on your machine?  My guess is that you don't have all of the fonts installed...

I'll check if I have "xlsfonts" on my machine. But there is a strange thing...

When I'm setting CDS_USE_PALETTE variable all fonts becoming visable on Layers window(see snapshot). But the problem with the property editor is remaining...

Hi Anna,

This is because the Layers Palette and Virtuoso windows etc. are now implemented using Qt widgets, but I suspect that the LSW and the Property Editor are still using Motif. You can use the property assistant in the layout window as a workaround to the Property Editor form. I think that you should be able to use the property editor assistant in IC614 without needing to use the VLS-XL tier.

Are you running via NoMachine NX or similar? Certainly with NX, if you're running from a Windows machine, you need to ensure that you install the compatibility fonts (from the nomachine web site) for things to work smoothly because of the older Motif technology that's still  in the tools in the LSW, Layout Edit Properties form and Display Resource Editor.

Thank you very much for the feedbacks.

We are connecting from Windows to UNIX/Linux servers using Real VNC. I geuess the problem is connected to some files from user home directory. The KDE fonts: .x* files are the same for me and for other users.

Anyway  I'm going to set  "CDS_USE_PALETTE" env. variable and use "Layers" and "Property Editor" from Assistants menu. Very nice and convinient feature :))

 The only thing which I'm worring about is the following error message which appearces after Console when I'm invoking Virtuoso:

LE-107028 (Not a layout window)

Is this connected to the fonts problem? Or where can I get more info from (docs, Cadence help, etc)  about this error message?

Hi All,

Could you please advise how can I set bindkeys for Assistants->Layers and Assistants->Property Editor.

 Also I would like to set a bindkey to switch "All Valid layers" to "All Used Layers" and visa versa.

The problem with the fonts of LSW and Property Editor(Q) resolved. It was connected to my vncserver setup.
