About .cdsinit file

Hi,

I found the bindkey of IC6.1 is different from IC5.1. So I want to modify them. I made a file "bindkey" which will load il file and other settings and put it in my work directory. When I input load("bindkeys") in CIW, it works and bindkeys is correct. Because I have no permission to modify .cdsinit in install dir which on server so I make  .cdsinit file in local and write load("bindkeys") in it but it doesn't work. I think the software has not load .cdsinit file but I don't know the reason. I guess the search mechanism causes when first file is loaded the search will stop. Am I right? I hope someone can help me.

Best Regards,
Bobby

    Bobby,

Maybe there's a site .cdsinit in <ICinstDir>/tools/dfII/local which is being read first, and doesn't contain code to look for other .cdsinit files? Alternatively, it may have been configured to use the "Cadence Search File" method in IC61 to look for this file. If you do:

    cdswhich -lookupconfig .cdsinit

it will tell you if it's configured to find this file via CSF. If so, you can do:

    cdswhich .cdsinit

to find out which is being found. If it's not configured to use CSF, it will follow the <instDir>/tools/dfII/local, then working dir, then home order.

In all cases it only loads the first unless SKILL code is added to continue searching elsewhere. Some customers look for a different filename called something else e.g. .cdsuser or .cdslocal - depends on the SKILL coding chosen.

    Andrew.
