[SOLVED]: IC615 installation?

Previously the installation package was based on CDROMs and we normally point to CDROM1 in the InstallScape to start installation. But for the one I downloaded have not found any CDROM folder.

The list of folders and files in the download are:
1. iscape_logs (folder)
2. kits (folder containing lots of t.Z files)
3. .kpsource (file)
4. Hotfix_IC06.15.xxx-615_lnx86.sdp (file)
and
5. ic_index.sdx (file)

The MMSIM12 also has similar files and folders. The installation procedure changed or am I missing something? Where is the base package?

  • I normally use InstallScape directly, rather than downloading the "CDROM" files (as that's less efficient - you end up having to download the entire Hotfix and Base CDROMs, despite only needing part of the Base - and InstallScape takes care of this directly). Anyway, I downloaded the first CDROM of the IC615 Hotfix, and got this file:

     Hotfix_IC06.15.162-615_lnx86_1of8.tar

    When I untarred it, I got:

    So as you can see, I got the CDROM1 directory, which did indeed contain the files you're seeing. So I don't see what the problem is?

    can you please let me know how did you install IC615 using the .t.z files? which version of installscape is required? 

  • If you download installscape from http://downloads.cadence.com you can install directly without needing to download any big files - it will download what it needs to install the products you choose. In general, ensuring that you have the latest installscape is wise.

    If you have downloaded the CDROM images, you should only need to run the SETUP.SH script that's provided - it should unpack the installscape that's in the CDROM images and install using that. But it's usually less efficient because you need the images for both Base and Hotfix releases; most of the Base contents have been superseded by the Hotfix images.

  • thanks for the guidelines . is the spectre version same as mmsim vesion. I tried both spectre -W & spectre -V options but they give output as below - The program 'spectre' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing: sudo apt-get install webgui

  • Spectre needs to be installed from the MMSIM stream.  I think MMSIM121 is the latest "major" release. I'm not sure if a spectre run-time is even included in the Virtuoso IC streams anymore.

  • Spectre is in the MMSIM stream as described by the last poster, so you need to install an MMSIM release and also put <MMSIMhome>/tools/bin into your UNIX path. For example, in csh do:

    set path = (/path/to/MMSIM/tools/bin $path)

    or in bash/ksh do:

    export PATH=/path/to/MMSIM/tools/bin:$PATH

    (of course, replace /path/to/MMSIM with the location that you installed the MMSIM stream).

    The apt-get message is just because's some component of webgui which is called spectre - nothing to do with Cadence tools.

    I downloaded  IC6.15 and I didnt find any SETUP.SH file to install it.

    Previously the CDROMs used to have SETUP.SH file to install.

    have you tried using InstallScape for installing IC615? it is the recommended method and generally much easier than trying to work with CDROM images...  Also, can I suggest you start a new thread, you can post more details about what you've tried etc. there?
