Naming output signals in ADE XL

In the Outputs Setup tab of ADE XL (I'm using 6.1.5) it's possible to assign a "name" to an output, whether it's an expression or a signal. But when I click "plot" after the simulation has finished, the traces for expressions are labelled with the name I assigned in the output tab, while the signals are plotted with just their "signal name".

I.e., if I have a signal /I2/in, to which I assign the name "in", and an expression VT("/I2/out") which I've named "out", then in my waveform window I end up with one trace named "/I2/in" and one trace named "out". Is there a way to tell ADE XL to plot signals with their assigned names too?

Currently, no. There's a CCR for this already (can't remember the number).

So I would suggest contacting customer support to request this too (then a duplicate can be filed, which helps with prioritization).

    Regards,

    Andrew.

At one point, I was able to right mouse click on the trace in Viva and select "Trace Properties..." and UNCHECK "default", the signal name that was assigned to that trace will replace the default net name; but I don't know what happened, I can't reproduce this now (I switch ADE L and ADE XL, so I don't know under what environment I was able to do that). Nevertheless, it would be desirable to set an environment variable so that every time the trace signal name defined in output setup is shown in Viva instead of the default net name.

You can still change the trace properties and alter the default name. That still works - nothing has changed. You can also name expressions, and they are plotting using the name of the expression. What still isn't possible is to name a signal and have it plot it with the name you gave rather than the signal name - that was the thing I mentioned above - I don't believe that's changed (I didn't do an exhaustive search though).

    Andrew.
