GRID SPACING

Hi all,

regarding changing the grid spacing in the schematic composer & the layout editor of virtuoso.

Is the grid spacing dependant on what technology file is attached to the library at the time of creation of the library?

Is it advisable to change the grid spacing to adjust things while drawing the layout

regards

It is possible to have the grid spacing (for schematic and layout) set on the technology library, although that may or may not be done - it's less likely with the schematic because there's very little need to have that technology-specific. I assume you're talking about the snap spacing here anyway, rather than grid spacing? The manufacturing grid is in the technology file, but the snap spacing is controlled by properties on the cellView, the library, the technology library, or failing that in the cdsenv.

Search in the documentation for xSnapSpacing and ySnapSpacing (or schSnapSpacing or symSnapSpacing for schematic/symbol editor) for more details.

And for your second question, you can use your customer support login to reach the forums and other things on the site, but the forum login doesn't automatically give you access to the customer support site. To register you'd go to the support.cadence.com site and then use the (fairly obvious) "Register Now" link on the login page.
