GRID SPACING

Hi all,

regarding changing the grid spacing in the schematic composer & the layout editor of virtuoso.

Is the grid spacing dependant on what technology file is attached to the library at the time of creation of the library?

Is it advisable to change the grid spacing to adjust things while drawing the layout

  • thank you very much for the detailed explnation but i am a bit confued. couldn't undetstand clearly your last post. I will explain the pr0oblem in brief - i had an issue while drawing the layout - DRC ERROR " edge of rectangle not on grid", so as per the error i had drawn a rectangle whose edges were not failling on the grid. 

     so why is it so important that the edge of all shapes drawn in layout editor should fall on grid?

     there are 2 ways to correct this either change the dimentions of the rectagle or change the x,y snap / grid spacing. as per you we should change the snaping not the grid spacing?
