Layout netlist extraction

PietroUser
PietroUser over 11 years ago

Hello,

is there a simple way to extract the netlist from a layout without parasitics without doing the full LVS with Assura?

I am writing the extract.rul file and searching for a way to debug it.

Thanks,

Pietro

    Hi Pietro

Using an LVS/ERC tool to extract a layout netlist is already the most simple method. There is no need to do a full LVS. Just you only require the layout netlist, you can just use an empty cdl netlist or a dummy schematic for the LVS. Layout netlist can then be obtained as follows:

    terminal>vldbToCdl design.ldb > design_layout.cdl

    Hi Quek,

I tried the command vldbToCdl design.ldb to extract the cdl for the gds. But it gives only the following output in the terminal,

    *.LDD

    Please help me on this.

    Regards,

    Karthik.

    Hi Karthik

[In future, please kindly create a new thread for your own question. This is to allow us to concentrate on only your issue and not be confused by past issues which are not related to you]

Would you please let us know the following?

    a. Version of Assura
    terminal>assura -W

    b. How about this?
    terminal>vldbToCdl design.sdb
    terminal>vldbToCdl design.snn
    terminal>vldbToCdl design.lnn

    terminal>vldbToSpice design.ldb

Please note that you have to replace "design.abc" with the actual filename.

    Best regards
    Quek

There is some device information like widh length multiplier

    2)vldbToCdl design.snn

    Same as in previous command.

    3)vldbToCdl design.lnn

    *.LDD

    Hi Karthik

I think either your layout is empty or something went wrong during the layout extraction. Would you please check the Assura log file for errors during layout extraction?

    Best regards
    Quek
