EMIR issue (failed to plot resistor)

Hi,

I tyr to use EMIR flow for my design. Made the following steps:

- calibre extraction

- ultrasim simulation for EM/IR database

- use usimEmirUtil for EM/IR report

so..  usimEmirUtil mades me IR report (*.rpt_ir) but can not to plot resistors to EMIR view. I see the following error in the usimEmirUtilOA.emirlog

***ERROR***: failed to plot resistor:rvdd/1410178

and so on for all resistors

DSPF (extracted from layout by calibre) file contains everything: $w,$l,$layer,$X,$Y,$X2,$Y2 as physical paramteres from layout

I do not know where I could miss somthing that EMIR can not to plot resistor at the end.

thnx

I tried APS_workshop as example for EMIR flow. Made same way but with own scheme. "emirutil" reports in the log error "failed to plot resistor" still. What "emirutil" needs to plot resistor? IR-drop text report contains X.Y.X2.Y2 coords at least. My database missing something but i do not know what?

Hi, there are 2 different things in EMIR analysis: 1) the run and 2) the creation of violation map. In what do you face the problem?

I have problem with violation map.

    for example. emiruitl command line.

emirutilOA -layout -format oa -db input.emirtap.emir0_bin -control emir.config -lib 128Kx1_32x16 -cell rev1p0_128Kx1_32x16 -view emir_view -log emirutil.emirlog -libpath rev1p0_128Kx1_32x16

    emirlog shows:

    ......

    Process EMIR ...

    Reading ../rev1p0_128Kx1_32x16.pex.netlist_R ...

    Processing net GND:
        |                                                                                                    |
        |Open libname ../rev1p0_128Kx1_32x16
***Info***: EmirUtil created OA view emir_view.
    ***ERROR***: failed to plot resistor:rgnd_1
    ***ERROR***: failed to plot resistor:rgnd_2

    .......

You have a specific problem with these two devices or generally? If it is general (i.e. the violation map of everything) you should add some lines to your cdsinit and your cadence setup. I do not remember the exact lines. You should refer to spectre manual.

This is general. I think I have those lines because Cadence example (APS_EMIR_Workshop) works without problems. I made violation map with plotted resistors from cadence example for EMIR. But my case has some issues with visualisation IR-drop.

I checked those lines.... those line need to see EMIR view thru virtuoso.... as you see my reports when I try to make emir view. Basycally I get full text report.... but I would like to take violation map and to see it in the virtuoso... Emir flow can not to plot resistors but Emir flow calculates IR-drop. Emir view contains IRdrop (nodes) but do not contains resistors as plot

I found how to resolve my issue. Resistors were nto scaled (W/L). I missed it when I made DSPF. EMIR could not to plot resistor because Virtuoso has scaled (W/L) when DSPF has real (W/L). =)

    Andrew,

Problem was in scaled W/L for resistors.. I missed that when made DPSF for EMIR simulation.

Basically Cadence need to make error message like... "Could not to plot resistors; (resistor width too low)" something like that. I had not scaled resistors in DSPF. DSPF had real sizes (W/L).
