BSIM-CMG

Is there a minimum requirement as far as MMSIM is concerned for BSIM-CMG models?

bsimcmg was introduced in MMSIM 7.2. You can tell by typing "spectre -h bsimcmg".

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Don't know, because it doesn't look like one of our version numbers.  Type "spectre -W" at the Unix prompt to find out (that is an uppercase W)

Says, command not found. By the way, Cadence is setup on remote server.

If it helps, this is on my .csh file for MMSIM

    setenv MMSIMHOME /apps/cadence/MMSIM0701179

    setenv MMSIM_PATH $MMSIMHOME/tools/bin

    setenv SPECTRE_FEATURE_FILE $MMSIMHOME/tools/spectre/etc/files/spectre.dat

    setenv PATH "${MMSIMHOME}/tools/bin:${PATH}"

    setenv PATH "${MMSIMHOME}/tools/vpcd/bin:${PATH}"

When you run simulations from ADE, you'll get a log file displayed. The spectre version number is shown at the top of that log file.

I guess I figured it out from shell. The MMSIM version is 7.0.1.179.ISR16.It's a pretty old version of spectre compared to using Cadence Virtuoso IC 6.1.6

This means we have MMSIM 7 installed on our cadence directory. Is MMSIM upgrade free ? Considering BSIM-CMG is incorporated in MMSIM 7.2 ?

Also , I have heard people using pdks modeled on BSIM-CMG to be running (with little success) on older version of cadence , with probably older version of MMSIM.

MMSIM70 was released in about 2007, so I agree, it's rather old to be using with IC616.

Provided you have a maintenance or subscription contract, or accessing it via a University program, moving to newer releases of any stream is no problem (after all, you have moved to IC616). So you can use MMSIM14.1 (there have been 7 major releases of MMSIM since the version you are using).

It's possible some people are using a Verilog-A implementation of bsimcmg with an older MMSIM version, but there really is no good reason to do that. The performance will be worse for a start.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

About predictive models ( '.pm' ) : There has been an ongoing discussion as to how one can incorporate predictive models to use SPECTRE for simulation. So, is it straightforward with newer MMSIM 14.1 compared to discussion in thread back in 2011 ?
