Specify custom tool instead of default viewer for log files

Hi,

Is it possible to specify which program to use for viewing logs etc.? I know about the "editor" setting, but this does not apply do read-only files like logfiles. I found a thread from 2010 (http://community.cadence.com/cadence_technology_forums/f/38/t/17335) and wanted to ask if there where any changes since then.

My primary reason is that the builtin viewer is much less capable in terms of search/highlighting, configuring linebreaks etc. then e.g. gvim (which is quite ok, virtuoso does not need to be a competent text editor, but it would be nice to specify an alternative)

Best Regards,

Andreas

    Andrew,

Thank your for your quick answer, this will at least help with the readability of the files (till now I would just open the log folder and open the files manually, I wrote a few highlight files for vim to find stuff easier). I hope we will update to ISR7 soon, ATM we are still on ISR6, at least for the tech I'm working with.

It doesn't help my more general gripe though, which is that I need different shortcuts in every application, which is why I'm trying to use the same tools in as many places as possible. E.g. if I open a Verilog file for rw, it will open in e.g. vim as I'm used to, but if I open the same file for read only it will look/feel differently.

But the colors should make reading the files easier at least.

    Regards,
    Andreas
