making via come as double via by default

how can i make the via come as double via by default? every time i create a via, i always need to edit the gui and change the column/row to make it double via.

any help is appreciated. thanks.

    Hi,

    there are several ways depending on which tool you are using.

    I will assume you are using the create via command in VLS-L.

    When you first use the create via command, click <F3> to bring up the create via properties form.

    Set the parameters that you want and then click on the save button (diskette icon in the middle of the form).

    This will create a so-called "via variant" and it will appear in the list of available vias.

    The next time you create a via, simply use this new via variant.

    If you are using VLS-XL you can create a constraint group and define a min num cut rule. The tools (Wire Editor included) will, by default, create a double (or however many cuts you want) via. More details can be found in the documentation for XL.
