how to overwrite veriloga code in cadence

Dear all,

I use one gain control which write by verilog-A code.  After I create the symbol for the code and use it for simulation, no matter what change i did for the code, there is no change for the gain control. For example, at first I set the gain is 100, save and create the symbol, then use it for simulation, but I find this gain isn't enough, I want to change the gain to 200, but when I change the gain number in verilog-A file and save. these still no change when I simulation. I create a new one for every change, it makes me crazy.......So I want to know how to overwrite the verilog-A code instead of  create a new one in cadence.

  • Are you editing the file outside of Virtuoso? If so, you'd probably need to force spectre to stop before you re-run. If you change it within Virtuoso it would detect that the cellView changed and would cause spectre to re-start. However, simply doing simulation->stop should solve this. By default spectre keeps running to allow it to efficiently do parameter changes without needing to restart from scratch, and this may be what you're seeing. I'm guessing a bit here because you didn't say much about versions, your setup, or anything in fact...
  • Yes, I edit them out of Virtuoso, because I don't know how to change the code in virtuoso. Could you show me some picture that finger out how to change the code in Vistuoso. Thanks again.

  • Either do Right Mouse->Open in the Library manager over the view, or File->Open->CellView in the CIW. This should bring up an editor. If it's an older version, it will bring up whatever editor you have configured (via the $EDITOR UNIX env var, or the editor SKILL variable), but if using IC616 ISR7 (I think) or later, there is a built-in editor in Virtuoso for these views.

    You need to save and exit the editor which is launched (if using a version before the built-in editor) to have Virtuoso detect the change and re-check the file for syntax and identify the inputs and outputs and also to mark the cellView as having been changed.
