Modelfile not loaded in ADE

HoWei

I transferred an existing project with PDK into our environment.

In .cdsinit it is set:

  envSetVal("spectre.envOpts" "modelFiles" 'string "/model_libraries/models/lvt_mos.scs;TT")

When verifying in the CIW via

 envGetVal("spectre.envOpts" "modelFiles")

I see it is set properly.

But when opening ADE and creating a netlist, it does not include this modelfile. It also does not show the modelfile in the ADE modelfile-popup-windows - its just empty.

This not only for existing cells, it is also for newly created cells.

WhenI select the modelfile in the ADE modelfile-popup-window, it is included in the netlist.

How can I make it to include the modelfile ?

What does prevent the modelfiles to be loaded ?

I also see that the modelfiles are not shown in the simulation folders modelfile "/simulations/.../schematic/netlist/.modelFiles".

I further-more found, that the netlist includes a file "models.scs", and this file contains:

    "include "setupCornersIncludeFile.scs"

    and this included file contains:

     "include "importNetlist.scs"

and this included file contains only commented lines, saying that in case of an non included modelfile do "Check&Save" or  "recreate netlist".

These files are somehow coming from the PDK.

    Any idea ?

Which PDK are you using? It might help narrow down what customisation is being done to alter the behaviour (this doesn't sound a terribly well-behaved PDK implementation).

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

its a ST-Micro PDK and it requires some script execution in the users workarea before launching virtuoso.

There is a STM proprietary tool called "UnicadKernel" and ArtistKit used in the environment...

Are you expecting to completely replace the model files set up by the ArtistKit corners tool, or are you looking to add additional model files? I'm just trying to understand what you want - I will talk to my contacts who are responsible for ArtistKit, but I'd like to know what you're expecting it to do.

It might be best to ask ST this directly, but I'm happy to contact them too.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

According to the .cdsinit that we got from the design house which we are working with (we are not working with STM directly in this project), additional model-files should be loaded. The model-files are defined by the command envSetVal("spectre.envOpts" "modelFiles" 'string "/model_libraries/models/lvt_mos.scs;TT") in .cdsinit.

That's what I want do achieve.

I actually found that the modelfiles defined in .cdsinit shall be included in addition to the "include models.scs" - means in the working case, the "include models.scs" is there as well.

If you could gather some information/hints from ST on what prevents me from loading model-files via .cdsinit would be helpful, as we cannot simply approach ST directly and need first to contact the design-house (what we will do of course).

    Best regards

    Holger

I found out that this problem exists only with already existing ADE-states and also when the default simulator was set to Eldo !

Setting the default simulator from eldo to spectre will include the modelfiles for a new ADE state.

For existing states with spectre - the simulator has to be changed to another simulator (e.g. Eldo) and then changed back to spectre - then the modelfiles are shown in GUI.

Is there a way to tell existing states, that they shall use the model-files defined by "envSetVal("spectre.envOpts" "modelFiles") automatically - without unset/set spectre in the ADE ?
