Maestro: Could not find state ..../spectre/active active

Hi,

We do have 2 similar maestro views "maestro_lpe" and "maestro_sch". Both view do contain variables and outputs in the users workarea.

The user checked in the files in our revision control system SOS.

When checking out the cell by other users, the "maestro_sch" is not working. No variables and outputs are visible for other users after checkout of this cell. In the CIW the following message comes:

WARNING (ADE-1077): Could not find state /icd/sim/hflroic_g6r3/uidn5147/sos_main/sim/G6R3_tb/mm_test_sig_and_xt/maestro_sch/G6R3_tb/mm_test_sig_and_xt/spectre/active active.
WARNING (EXPLORER-1648): The 'G6R3_tb/mm_test_sig_and_xt/maestro_sch' cellview has been opened in the read-only mode.
The setting for the number of history entries to be saved, specified using the
Save Options form or the adexl.simulation saveLastNHistoryEntries environment
variable, will be applied only to the histories created in this session.
Histories saved in the previous sessions will not be removed.

When comparing the content of the view-folders of "maestro_sch" and "maestro_lpe" I see that a file "active.state" is only existing in "maestro_lpe". That is also true for the users folders - not only for the checked-out folders. But the user does see all outputs and variables.

What can be the problem here  - any idea ?

By looking closer to the search-path of the missing file I observed 2 things I had overseen before:

    - the search-path is messed-up, it contains 2 times the folder "G6R3_tb/mm_test_sig_and_xt/"

    - it is looking in the simulation folder (not in the lib-path as assumed before)

But the file/folder does not even exist in the users simulation folder.

Why does ADE want to find this folder ?

I also found that in the users workarea (where "maestro_sch") is working, in the simulation folder the file "active.state" is existing - thatswhy it is working in his  workarea and not in the other users workarea.

I only get the "maestro_sch" in my workarea working when I copy the "active.state" into my simulation folder - copying to the library cell-folder does not help.

    Why ?

    To conclude the findings:

    1. The user created a "maestro_sch" cell-view

    2. Somehow the file "active.state" is not located in the library, but it is located in the simulation folder

    3. The user checked in the "maestro_sch" cell-view to our SO repository

    4. The other users are populating his cell-view in their library, but are missing the "active.state" and getting the error.

I am wondering how this dependence on the simulation folder was created ?

Is this a new feature or bug of IC6.1.8 that can happen ?

This sounds very odd. I've not seen it myself before and my theories about it (opening a new maestro view, not saving any tests, then closing and reopening in readonly) didn't reproduce it.

However, since I see you've now logged case 46358334 I'll leave it to my colleague in the support team to handle this - it does seem strange.

According to Cadence support this is a bug which was fixed in IC6.1.7 ISR22 onwards.

It is caused by copying a maestro-view via "save a copy", when the maestro-view is openend "read-only". Then the file "active.state" is not copied. If then the maestro-view is opened by another user, the required "active.state" is searched in the simulation folder - where it does  not exist for this other user of course.

It seems that in our case, the maestro-view was created in ic6.1.7.500.1400 and not in ic6.1.8.010 as we assumed before.

I verfified that when creating the "save a copy" in 6.1.8.010 this problem does not exist anymore.
