viva graph tip

Hi,

I'm running IC6.1.7.500.22.

I like to know if it is possible to de-activate the popup window of the VIVA Graph tip (see image) every time I start ADE Assembler/Explorer and run a simulation. Even though I have select the Do not show this again, it keeps coming up in new sessions!

thanks in advance.

best regards,

Normally if you check the “Do not show this again” it writes a line into ~/.cdsenv :

    maestro.plotting showViVAGraphLaunchTip boolean nil

So check that this is happening. It may be that you have something else in your environment which is setting this cdsenv after the home ~/.cdsenv has been read in, or it may be that you have things configured to never read a ~/.cdsenv (although that would be unusual).

Check in the CIW (in a fresh virtuoso - having checked that the entry is in the ~/.cdsenv as described above):

    envGetVal("maestro.plotting" "showViVAGraphLaunchTip")

You might also want to check what $CDS_LOAD_ENV is set to in the terminal, and also what “cdswhich -lookupconfig .cdsenv” returns and then “cdswhich -all .cdsenv” returns.

    Thanks,

    Andrew.

    Hi, Andrew.

thanks for the reply. I found the problem in the .cdsenv file, which had wrong file permissions. After I corrected it, everything is fine.

Oh, another question, if you permit: is there a way to automatically open a design schematic, from a ADE Assembler or ADE Explorer test, in editable mode, instead of having to go through File->Make Editable?

    best regards,

Putting this in the .cdsinit will help:

    envSetVal("adexl.gui" "openDesignAccessMode" 'cyclic  "a")

That will mean that the Right Mouse -> Open Design In Tab will open in edit (append) mode. This doesn't affect the Session->Design Window in Explorer though. I thought that this might:

    envSetVal("asimenv" "designEditMode" 'boolean t)

but it doesn't. I'm not sure the access mode for Session->Design Window can be controlled.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi, Andrew.

Thanks very much for the reply and for the solution.

Well, I can live with that! Maybe I could talk with support to add that as a future feature!!

Yes. I think the Session->Design Window should honour the openDesignAccessMode setting in Explorer. At least with Explorer you can also use the Open Design in Tab too, so it's just this menu that isn't honouring the access mode. So yes, please do talk to customer support.

    Kind Regards,

    Andrew.
