Design variable in assember -> copy from cell view issue

Hello,

I find a strange issue when using design variable -> right-click -> copy from cellview in assembler. Cadence version is IC618-64b. 500.9

In fact, I set the value of variable (e.g., AAA = 100), then after I right-click -> copy from cellview, AAA's is updated to other value. In my opinion "copy from cellview" should only update the missing variable to the list, but not change any variable value.

Is there any mechanism could change variable value when using "copy from cellview"?

Thanks

That's expected if the variable values have previously been copied back using "copy to cellview". Note that these are slightly misnamed - they actually copy variable names/values from a property stored on the cell property bag (edit properties over the cellName in the library manager), and also copy from cellview additional finds any variables used in the design hierarchy and copies those as well. A colleague filed a change request recently to get these renamed to make them clearer.

I do agree that having a "add missing variables" option would be useful. Perhaps you should contact customer support to request this.

    Andrew.

Hello Andrew, your answer is very helpful.

Then my following question is how to remove such cell property bag, forcing back to the initial status?

You shouldn't remove the entire cell property bag as there may be other important properties in there (e.g. CDF is stored in the same bag). Instead, you want to delete the designVarList cell property.

So, go over the cell name (for whatever your test bench schematic is called) in the library manager, and use Right Mouse->Properties. You should see a form like this:

Click within the box that says the value for the designVarList (e.g. the black highlighted region above) and then click on the Delete button and OK.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
