Fatal error when use ADE L to simulate veriloga blocks.

Hi,

I am using 6.1.6 to do some design and I try to use some VerilogA blocks, for example the blocks in ahdlLib and some customized blocks, in my simulation. But it meets an error showing below. The error index number is ' ERROR (VACOMP-1008)'. It seams that cadence cannot compile the ahdlcmi module library. I have no idea what is that.  I highlight the error message with red. Thank you very much if anyone can help me.

    Did you do what the error message suggested and look in the ahdlcmi.out file that it referenced to see if that gives any more information? Perhaps you can post the model and the content of that file here?

    Thank you for helping me. I tried to read the log file but it is a little bit hard for me to understand. I saw some unexpected data type messages. Here is the log file content as well as the block model I am using in the simulation. It is the 'and_gate' block from ahdlLib.

    It appears that you're missing the 64 bit version of libc.so.N on your machine (probably /lib64/libc.so.6). 

    This would be installed via the "glibc" package. Here's what it is on my machine (RedHat Enterprise 6.5):

    UNIX> rpm -q -f /lib64/libc.so.6
    glibc-2.12-1.149.el6_6.5.x86_64

    Check if there is /lib/libc.so.6 - if so, you may just be able to run Spectre in 32-bit mode instead. Check on the Setup->Environment in ADE - if you've turned on 64-bit mode for spectre, turn it off. Otherwise check if you have the UNIX env var $CDS_AUTO_64BIT set before you start virtuoso, if so tell me what it is (you can type getShellEnvVar("CDS_AUTO_64BIT") in the CIW (the main window that appears when you launch virtuoso).

    Thank you. I can find the 'libc.so.6' file under /lib32/ folder only. But it doesn't exist in folder /lib/ and /lib64/ .

    And the env var CDS_AUTO_64BIT is set to be ' ALL'.  In the ADE setupt->environment, I didn't turn on the 64-bit mode. But I don't if the 64bit mode is till using for my CDS_AUTO_64BIT setting to ALL. I tried to set the CDS_AUTO_64BIT to 'NONE' by "setShellEnvVar("CDS_AUTO_64BIT=NONE")"  but not working still. Maybe because the way I set CDS_AUTO_64BIT is wrong.

    I will ask my group mate who is maintaining the server to install the 64bit vision glibc package. Or is there anyway to use the 32-bit instead?

    I would expect changing CDS_AUTO_64BIT to NONE as you've done to work here. The other thing you could do is to go to Setup->Environment and add "-32" to the userCmdLineOptions field.

    You're using pretty old versions here, but I would expect that to work. Not sure whether the errors are different if you do this or not?

    We have installed the 64 version package on server at folder /lib64/x86_64-linux-gnu. And according to the manager, the path is set to be the default path for searching the libc.so.6 . But I still meet the same error.

    Here I notice the log file, there is a ' -rpath,/usr/lib -WL,-rpath,/lib -s' . Does this mean the searching path was 're-pathed' to /usr/lib and /lib which are the wrong path ? Could this be the problem ??

    Those paths are OK. On my functioning system, I get the same paths - I think they get translated to the 64-bit equivalents automatically.

    I realised it can't really be missing 64-bit libc because pretty much nothing will work if that's missing (I know, because I stupidly tried to emulate that problem by renaming the link /lib64/libc.so.6 - my advice to anyone, don't ever do that!). Having rebooted in a different virtual machine, mounted the disk of the first machine and fixed it, I'm now back - but I'm not making that mistake again.

    What does "/usr/bin/lsb_release -a" and "/bin/uname -a" output?

    Did you manage to get it working with spectre running in 32-bit mode?

    To be honest, this is something that would be much better dealt with via customer support, even though you're using an old unsupported version.

    Sorry for late replying. I was trying several different ways these days.

    No, I could never make it working with 32-bit mode. I am also thinking maybe it's because the linux issue. I was told that cadence actually doesn't support the Linux distro we are using, and my group mate need to do something extra to make it work on our server.  I am considering to install a CentOS on my own machine and run cadence.

    We are using Debian Linux and here is the output given:

    Yes, unfortunately Debian has never been supported - and I don't have a machine I can experiment with to see what might be wrong. Clearly it's unable to find libc for some reason.

    So all I can suggest is that you install a supported OS distribution (or CentOS as being close enough to something supported).
