output format from Hspice simulation from ADE

I am running Hspice as a simulator from ADE.  After setting everything the simulation works fine. But I can't see any waveform. I think Hspice does not generate pxfl format.

No waveform loaded.  Hspice generate tr0 file but it's not loaded in ADE.  Is there any way to view the waveform ?

I believe HSPICE can save data in fsdb format. ViVA supports a number of fsdb formats as shown in the On-line support article at URL:

    support.cadence.com/.../ArticleAttachmentPortal

    Did you try that format?

    Hi Shawn,

I was trying to select the option that outpust fsdb. But when I choose the simulator as "Hspcie" that option is not available anymore from the "Output-->Save All"

    Dear cADEUSer,

I did not realize you were running HSPICE from ADE-Explorer (as opposed to running HSPICE). Perhaps you can include an HSPICE command to set the output format to what you want. A quick internet search suggests this HSPICE command may format the output in fsdb format.

    .option fsdb

I do not run HSPICE from the Cadence interface, so I am not the best person to answer your question.

I've not run HSPICE through the hspiceD interface for a while (I don't currently have access to licenses for testing the interface). The expectation is that HSPICE produces PSF format when run in ADE - are you getting these lines in the netlist?

    .OPTION
    + ARTIST=2
    + INGOLD=2
    + PARHIER=LOCAL
    + PSF=2

Specifically the ARTIST=2 and PSF=2 lines? These are enabled via the Simulation->Options->Analog form, but should be turned on by default. Is there anything in the HSPICE log saying that these were problematic? I think there's an HSPICE license needed for the artist link, so maybe you don't have that?

    Regards,

    Andrew

I've no idea why this is not working. You may need to ask Synopsys why it is not producing the data requested...

I can't see any recent reports of issues with this - unfortunately I can't check it myself, as I mentioned (always difficult when a third-party simulator is involved). You could also contact Cadence customer support to just check that there's nothing else obvious going wrong...

Thanks Andrew. Do you know if there is any way to set the HSPICE binary location ( Simulator Path )  from ADE GUI ?

No, the normal expectation is that you have "hspice" in your UNIX search path before starting Virtuoso.

You can change the binary name using:

    envSetVal("hspiceD.envOpts" "simExecName" 'string "myhspice")

(which could be the path to the executable). You need to do this before starting ADE, as far as I know - and if using multiple simulations in ADE XL/Explorer/Assembler, you'd need to add this to your .cdsinit
