Backup and reload results in Assembler

I'm using ADE Assembler (IC6.1.8) to run some heavy Monte Carlo sims, but my simulation drive is running out of space. Half way through, I get a low disk space warning, simulation comes to a halt and all licenses are checked back in.

To free disk space, I would like to backup old (and important) results instead of deleting them. I ran a test case to check if I can simply move files through Linux:

1. Ran a test AC sim
2. Confirmed results are saved in Interactive.0
3. In Linux, moved Interactive.0 directory from original location to new location -> Interactive.0 disappeared from history pane
4. Moved Interactive.0 directory from new location back to original location -> Interactive.0 reappeared in history pane
5. Tried reloading the results but Assembler cannot load the results anymore

It looks like simply moving directories around doesn't preserve all the necessary links for Assembler to properly reload the results.

Is there a proper way to do this sort of backup? I am not able to find a definitive answer online.

Let me try to add my thoughts on this to possibly help out....

If your steps  3, 4, and 5 were all done in Linux (and not Assembler), this will impact the database directory as it may not be current. As shown in Figure 1, in the Save Options panel, there are two directories listed - one for the simulation results and a second for the "Ade Assembler Results Database Location". If you navigate, in Liunx, to this directory and locate the test bench you are simulating with Assembler and follow its subdirectories :.../maestro/results/maestro", you will see a".log" file and an ".rdb" file for each for your runs. When you did a Linux move operation and then replaced it, this may have impact the directory id in Linux - and I am not sure to what extent Assembler uses the id of a directory in its database...this is beyond my knowledge base! However, I suspect that you did something to the "Interactive.0" that precludes the Assembler database from recognizing it. Using ocean to traverse the database will work whether you move "Interactive.0" or not. hence, if you know how to write an ocean scrip to access your data, you can put the Interative.0 directory anywhere you want. Of course, you can also open it with Results browser.

I'm not sure if the latter two suggestions are helpful to you or not...

This is a topic that would probably take too long (certainly longer than I can really give this week at least) to describe the complexity of where data goes and where it is referenced. It's more suited to something that should be asked of customer support.

The "right" way of doing this is to go over the history name in the Data View assistant, and do right mouse->Save Results. That should update the references in the database to where the data has been saved to.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Thanks for the feedback  and Andrew Beckett

Results browser is always an option, but losing the link to Maestro means my equations are not useful anymore.

Right mouse -> Save Results over the history name works great!
