Parametric Simulation on number of fins

Legion

Hi

Problem: I wanted to see the variation in the inverter characteristics by varying the number of fins which requires making fins a parameter (ie ., a variable pFins for example). But if I give anything other than the number I will be prompted with an error message on CIW as shown below

*Error* Number of Fins per Finger must be a number - setting to default

PDK used: cds_ff_mpt

Schematic editor: ICADVM181

Is this a bug?

Any workaround is there for it?

Can you please provide a solution to this?

This is a limitation of the PDK - not a bug as such, but a conscious choice to disallow variables. Sometimes this is an oversight but sometimes it's to ensure derived parameters can be computed.

That said, if you use ADE Explorer/Assembler then you can use the Parameters section to specify an override and sweep the parameters that way without needing to put a variable on it.

    Regards,

    Andrew
