Parasitics/LDE Setup

Hi,

I have a question regarding ADE Assembler Parasitics/LDE Setup. Say, I have a differential amplifier as shown and I am interested to know each net (out of 8) cap to ground due to layout (assuming I have only done C-extraction) while I am on schematic view and put my cursor on that net.

I have read multiple ways to use Parasitics/LDE Setup, but neither was helpful, please comment if that is something that we can do.

Yes, that's what the parasitic reporting can do. Are you using Quantus for extraction? Have you taken a look at (and followed) the Using Quantus Smart View in the Virtuoso Analog Design Environment rapid adoption kit?

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the prompt reply, unfortunately I am using calibre for extraction. Is there a way to obtain the same outcome with calibre?

From the Virtuoso schematic window of your differential amplifier, access the menu item Launch->Plugins->Parasitics. This will add a Parasitics menu item to your Virtuoso window.

From the new Parasiics Menu, choose the Setup item and it will display the following GUI:

Choose your C-only extracted view name, and after completing the rest of the from, then choose the menu item to "Show Parasitics". Alternately, "Report Parasitics" will allow you to save the data to a file. This documentation is from the Cadence On-line support site at URL:

    I hope this helps.

    Dear Shawn,

I have a slightly different form, in ADE Assembler, I select the following

then this is the form I have,

Say, I have my OpAmp in library tb, with the schematic cell named tb_OA, I have created a config for this view. My OpAmp is in library named Design and has schematic and C-Extracted view (w/Calibre).

With this info, can you comment on how to proceed?

These flows are not supported with non-Cadence extraction tools (the LVS part can be non-Cadence, but the extraction needs to be Quantus).

However, we do have a newer DSPF-based flow which works with ADE, and the transistor-level DSPF can be produced with other extractors. You should contact your AE/account team to ask about enabling this. This gives the ability to do out-of-context probing with DSPF (specified either via the Setup->Simulation Files->Parasitic Files form in ADE or using DSPF views), plus the parasitic reporting assistant.

    Kind Regards,

    Andrew
